A FEW RECENT PROJECTS

Below are just a few examples of the type of work we do at One-Up DroneWorX. From the mundane to the meticulous, we love flying and we love a challenge. Start a chat, email us, or give us a call to discuss your next project idea!

PROJECT //  32  Cobb Farms

Mr. Cobb is a Korean War veteran who was once a prolific farmer in the Texas Panhandle. These days, well into his 80's, Mr. Cobb relies heavily upon government programs such as the federal CRP program and the state-level Texas Public Hunting Lands program in order to keep his farm up and running and paying the necessary property taxes.

Mr. Cobb came to One-Up DroneWorX requesting help in documenting the transformation of a large piece of property. He wanted to document the improvement in order to demonstrate to the state that he was desperately doing whatever he could to keep his valuable lease agreement with Texas. This particular CRP area had not been mowed, plowed or burned in over two decades, and was actually so dense that upland game bird populations had virtually vanished. It was so thick, hunters struggled to traverse it. But Mr. Cobb had a plan.

This plan involved mowing some 30' wide walking lanes. This would also create a better habitat for quail and pheasant chicks to scratch for seeds, bugs and legumes. These lanes will be rotated every year.

Mr. Cobb also felt like planting some evergreen shrubs or trees around the plot would allow for cover for avian reproduction, roosting and protection from harsh weather. For this, his idea was to join the Arbor Day Foundation. With only a $10 membership, ADF sends you ten free trees!

One-Up's initial flight went very well, documenting in a high-resolution ortho-mosaic map the current state of the overgrown property prior to any improvements. Over the course of the next few years, our Mavic 2 Pro will fly the exact same mission path, utilizing cutting-edge Artificial Intelligent flight planning software, and capturing the land transformation over time.

One-Up DroneWorX is proud to be of assistance to one of our country's great heroes. Thank you Mr. Cobb for your service to our beloved country.

Above is the optical camera version of the map above. When the paths are mowed and some new undergrowth arises, the swaths will show up as dark green stripes across the plant health map, allowing for better feeding habitat for resident quail and pheasant, and in turn creating better hunting lands.

PROJECT // 39 Colorado Fly Fishing; A View from the Sky!
Amarillo, Texas drone pilot, aerial photography and video
Aerial video and photography services in Amarillo, Texas

Chad McPhail and Guy Wilkins have been fly fishing buddies for about a decade. They've fished all over Texas, New Mexico and Colorado, and have taken countless pictures and videos of one another catching (and sometimes not catching) fish.

On their most recent trip to Colorado Chad experimented with the drone and caught some extremely unique perspectives of Guy casting, mending, hook-setting and wading. At just about an hour of flight time, Chad captured about 25 minutes of HD video and shot over 100 hi-res photos. Problem was, they'd have to wait nearly a week until they returned home to see it all.

The final product, once edited in the One-Up DroneWorX studio, was even more breathtaking than they'd hoped. The weather could have been more favorable, which limited the footage, but you can see the fully-edited 12-minute video on our YouTube channel by clicking here. You can also view more of One-Up's edited aerial videos at their YouTube home page

The natural evolution of this video would be to create some one-of-a-kind fly fishing tutorials utilizing angles and views that simply were not possible until recent drone and camera technology advancements.

Further, using a polarized lens on the Mavic in some shots helps cut much of the glare from the surface of the water, allowing the viewer to see straight through the water and sometimes catching glimpses of trout in their natural habitat holding in eddies, lounging behind sub-surface structure, and darting away to avoid predation.

PROJECT // 48 United Supermarkets

One-Up DroneWorX is often hired to do freelance drone jobs through 3rd party platforms such as Droners.IO, DroneBase, DroneUp Pilot Services, and others. Most of those gigs have rigid, pre-determined camera settings, demanding shot lits, and occasionally an artificial intelligent (A.I.) mission flight path already set up. Our job is to show up on time, fly the mission safely using their requisites, and return the deliverables to the mid-stream client, who in turn delivers them to their client once edited and rendered.

One such mission One-Up DroneWorX recently completed was for United Supermarkets. We shot an orthomosaic map (bottom picture at left), a 360* inward pano (used to create the 3D Point Cloud - top pic), 4K video, and multiple ground shots at several United locations in the Texas Panhandle.

There's always something to learn with these jobs. On this particular site, there was a ton of curious foot traffic around the parking lot. It was very cold (34*F), overcast and somewhat windy. And there were many obstructions such as trees, fencing, and semi-trucks parked all around the rear. There were so many variables to consider for public safety reasons, our own personal safety, and also for the quality of the deliverables.

The client was happy with One-Up's results. And to date, One-Up still has zero recorded safety incidents.

PROJECT // 50 Bezner Home

Often, clients call and state that they have an existing aerial photograph of their home from when they first built or moved in, and now they want a new aerial shot for a before-and-after comparison to show all the hard work they've done around the homestead.

The Bezner project was exactly that! Great views, wide open spaces in a quite, rural neighborhood. What a great gift idea for the unsuspecting spouse!

Start a chat, shoot us an email, or call us anytime. We're here to help make all your video and photo gift ideas come true!

We are One-Up DroneWorX... STILL the great state of TEXAS' favorite UAV photography service NOW serving the entire Rio Grande Valley area!
